About Us

Acknowledging sacrifice and suicide

This memorial was created by veterans for veterans. We aim to acknowledge veteran suicide at the crossroads of operational specialties, branches, races, ethnicities, and genders. Leaders from the Warriors Path co-designed and provided the initial content for VML. Warriors Path trains veterans to explore and lead conversations on moral injury.

VML is a collaboration with Warriors Path leaders, project director Katinka Hooyer and South African artist Paul Emmanuel.

We invite veterans to share their truths. The Veteran’s Memorial to the Living highlights the camaraderie and sacrifice of military service. Veteran suicide is a critical part of this story. This is a ‘Living’ memorial, where any veteran can recognize a sister or brother in arms, living or dead.
